Wiz Expands Cloud Security Services to India Amid Demand Surge, ETCIO
New York-based cloud security firm Wiz has entered the Indian market, betting that the country’s rapid shift to cloud and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven workloads will accelerate demand for unified security platforms.
The company, which is in the process of being acquired by technology giant Google for $32 billion in its biggest-ever acquisition, said it already has more than 30 enterprise customers in India across financial services, IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS), digital-native companies, pharma, and manufacturing.
In an interaction with ET, Arie Zilberstein, vice president of threat response at Wiz, said the firm’s early India push is driven by the pace at which domestic enterprises are moving critical workloads to the cloud and a spike in vulnerabilities created by AI-generated or AI-assisted code.

“Every critical app, like your bank’s payment app, is now adding AI agents that talk to customers. Because Wiz is built to spot both data and AI models across the cloud, we can catch vulnerabilities introduced by AI-generated code and stop serious attacks before they spread,” said Zilberstein.
Zilberstein added that Wiz has observed a sharp rise in cloud attacks globally in recent months, including incidents traceable to insecure AI-generated code.
Founded in 2020 by Assaf Rappaport, Amy Luttwak, Roy Reznik, and Yinon Costica, Wiz has been focussing on its agentless architecture, which allows enterprises to onboard the platform by connecting via cloud APIs without installing agents across workloads. Some of its global enterprise customers include investment bank Morgan Stanley, graphic design platform Canva, and communications firm Slack.
In November, Wiz’s acquisition by Google had cleared its antitrust review by the US Department of Justice (DoJ), according to media reports.
The company has hired 32 employees in India over the past six months across engineering, customer success and go-to-market roles, and aims to operate with full on-ground support. Wiz currently has teams in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi.
On the Google acquisition, Anil Bhasin, who leads the company’s India operations, said Wiz continues to operate independently until the transaction closes.
“Until the acquisition closes, we continue to operate as Wiz — independent, focussed on the same markets and on a multi-cloud strategy. What happens after the deal would be speculative; so for now, nothing changes for our customers despite this,” Bhasin said.
Pricing strategy
Addressing pricing in a cost-sensitive market, Bhasin said Wiz positions itself on business value rather than low-cost competition.
“Our focus is really driving business value. We do want to be seen as a business enabler. Competition will always be there, and India is a price-sensitive market. But we’ve proven that customers in India value the business enablement piece, and they’re willing to pay a justified cost for it,” Bhasin said.
Data regulations
On India’s data protection regulations, including the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, Zilberstein said Wiz’s platform is designed to adapt to varying regulatory frameworks across markets.
“Every country, every region has its own regulation, but we are quite agnostic to all of that. It is natural for us to expand to any regulation/framework. From a technology standpoint, we are ready to serve that and to make these adaptations. That is part of the investment that we are doing in getting into this market,” Zilberstein said.
According to market research and consulting firm Grand View Research, India’s cybersecurity market is projected to reach $20.4 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20.2% between 2025 and 2030.
